Silhouette SVG 3D Tree Ornament

Silhouette SVG 3D Tree Ornament
In this Silhouette Studio tutorial, we will create a simple 3D tree ornament for the holidays. We will be using one of the Silhouette Flexishapes for the Christmas tree shape and the Cut by Line Color feature to control the cut and score lines. We will cut six tree shapes from patterned cardstock and glue them together to create the 3D tree ornament.

  1. In the Page Setup panel, set the Machine to Cameo 5, Feed Type to Auto/Manual, Cutting mat to Cameo and Media Size to your paper size (see screenshot).

  2. First we will make some adjustments to the Flexishape tree shape. We will reduce the number of branches and make the tree 5 by 4.75 inches.

  3. Select the tree shaped Flexishape that is fifth from the left edge and in row four.

  4. Draw a tree shape that is 5 inches tall (see screenshot).

  5. To reduce the number of branches to four, drag the silver Manipulation Point to the left (see screenshot).

  6. With the Select tool, select the tree and drag the right side outward until the tree is 4.75 inches wide (see screenshot).

  7. Right-click the tree shape and choose Convert to Path.

  8. With the Line tool, draw a score line down the middle of the tree.

  9. In the Quick Assess Toolbar, set the color of the score line to blue (see screenshot).

  10. Select all, right-click and choose Group.

  11. Cut and Score

We will need six trees to form our tree ornament. Cut each tree shape from a different patterned paper.

  12. With the tree shape sill selected, open the Send panel. Click the Line tab at the top of the panel.

  13. In the Line tab, set the Action for the red line to Cut and the Action for the blue line to Score (see screenshot).

  14. Click the Send button at the bottom of the panel to cut the tree.

  15. Repeat the previous steps to cut five more tree shapes from various patterned cardstock.

  16. Assemble

  17. Fold each tree shape in half vertically along the score line (see screenshot).

  18. Glue two of the tree shapes together. Repeat, making three tree shapes (see screenshot).

  19. Glue the three remaining shapes together, to form the ornament (see screenshot).

  20. Add some baker's twine at the top for a hanger.
