If you've ever assumed that Bob Dylan was born in the back of a box car, in an Old West ghost town or on an island somewhere, you were wrong. He was born in Duluth, Minnesota and raised in the small town of Hibbing. He still occasionally travels to Hibbing to "wander around," Dylan said in 2009.

The town is proud of the former Robert Zimmerman, and to prove it they put on a festival each year in his honor. Dylan Days 2010 is a three-day festival being held May 27 through May 30. The festival will feature writing and singer/songwriter contests and events at Hibbing High School, Dylan's alma mater.

Last year, Dylan Days celebrated the 50th anniversary of his high school graduation. His high school English teacher, the late B.J. Rolfzen, will be honored during a reception.

A popular event during Dylan Days is the Bobby Zimmerman Bus Tour. The tour takes visitors around Hibbing with the help of a guide to point out the various places that influenced Bob Dylan.

A benefit concert on the 29th and a farewell brunch on the 30th will round out the festival. Visitors come from all over the world to attend this celebration of Bob Dylan and to compete against one another in the writing and singing contests.
